I have six months left on my course at university, and am now literally panicking! Is it possible to have a quarter life crisis? Haha, ok not quite but I have to admit am very nervous to join the world as a ‘grown up’ or as an ‘adult’ with ‘responsibilities’. I feel all of a sudden life has come at once and now it time to become this thing I have been training to be all my life. It is a big scary prospect when you’re forced to think about it!
Edge Hill have done an excellent job in preparing and supporting me to become a great teacher but it is this final step which is making me panic. Over Christmas is has been one of our tasks to start preparing to apply for jobs, we’ve had loads of help in what to do, where to look etc. But the big thing for me is accepting the challenge of joining the real world. I am tempted to speak to a careers advisor, in our careers centre (SIC building) and chat about all my worries and thoughts. They do encourage students to come and speak to them this could be a good start. Use this as an outlet if you are in a similar position to me!
If you are in a similar position, I already know it is extremely nerve-racking but it is quite exciting too and I suppose one day we all have to accept that it’s time to move on with the next chapter of our lives. It is very reassuring that Edge Hill will be there every step of the way. So I suppose for now I should just take it one step at a time and keep calm! I wonder what I will be feeling like in 6months when am about to finish university! Until next time, Viki J x

One of my favourite things is Christmas with my university friends! You get to decorate how you like, eat what you want and have fun with your friends! The best part is when it snows, and this year it did! Little old Ormskirk for a couple of days was covered with snow, very festive. Not as much snow as I got when I went home, but all the same it really does set the Christmas mood. I do believe Edge Hill University looks great with a coat of snow (see above).
Christmas is an excellent time to get together and celebrate especially with secret Santa and stuff like that! Also, you get to eat loads of food and it is perfectly acceptable, I have just polished off chocolate coins for my breakfast, excellent times. Christmas at university was very exciting as we planned a meal and got presents etc. It is like having two Christmases and you do feel very grown up planning you own meal and so on, or at least I did, haha. Anyway, I know this is a little late, but I do hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! I thought I would share some festive photos with you! Viki J x

Not to worry or alarm, but yes I know you have only been living in halls just short of a couple of months and your still in your first term but it is time to start thinking about who you are going to be living with and whereabouts you’re going to live. It’s nearly time to start house hunting!
As nervous as you may be it is very exciting! You about to leave the comfort of halls and become complete independent (well in most cases – my mum occasionally still does my food shopping)! You need to think about where you want to live in Ormskirk or back at home and so on for most people it just falls into place but best to get arrangement sorted.
A great place for help and support is -
http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/studentservices/accommodation/househunting.htm
Also call into the student information centre (SIC) they run house hunting workshops and so on, as most student don’t exactly know exactly what to look for or ask when looking to rent a house! There is loads of information out there – make sure you access it so you are in the ‘know’! The university provide a list of housing which can be accessed in early January – this list has how many rooms a house has got and landlord contact numbers! Very important you get going on the day this comes out if not before as houses go quick! Good luck anyway! Viki J x
